TMA Mondays: Hello From The Other Side
TMA'ed while listening to Waiting on The Rain by Jboog
I'm writing this post from New York and I wish I could say it's bright and sunny, but it seems Seattle weather followed me here. Just because it's gloomy, doesn’t mean things aren't good especially when it comes to food. According to their instagram, it seems Café Avole is expanding its menu and we'll be keeping our eyes open for what's to come. Fuji bakery is also finding a home in Bellevue's Uwajimaya. This will be the bakery's first location on the eastside. Also going to the eastside is Green Leaf Vietnamese, who'll be opening a new location in lake hills village soon. More food for me, more food for you. Speaking of more food, beef prices will be dropping as much as 2 percent and just in time for Memorial Day. Expect the cheapest retail prices for ground beef in two years, all because bumper grains crops have reduced costs to feed animal. We stay winning.
Our Pick of the Week
Stateside, Capitol Hill - I took a friend who was visiting to Stateside for brunch recently, and she loved it. Their brunch is a fusion of all sorts of deliciousness and the potato wedges with sriracha aioli are definitely underrated. If anything, go visit them for their Thai iced tea and Vietnamese coffee creamsicles.
Pizza - Pizza is a vegetable. We all thought it and then the government agreed with us. If you are tired of just the basic pizza, try this recipe for a honey chipotle chicken pizza with goat cheese by howsweeteats.
New Sh*t in Town
Little Maria's, Denny Triangle - With all the pizza places that Capitol Hill is getting, it's only fair that Denny Triangle gets some love too. Little Maria's is set to open in a few weeks with a promise of pizza and booze in a punk aesthetic.
Raconteur, Seward Park - The owners of Flying Squirrel pizzeria are opening a new restaurant called Raconteur inside third place books. They'll be making their own pretzels and bagels, but will also have a variety of items on their menu. They'll also have 20 beers and 6 wines on tap, so feel free to grab a drink while you browse the books.
Steak 'n Shake, Downtown - The Midwest is making its way to Seattle on May 25th. After months of waiting, the first Steak 'n Shake in Seattle will be opening its doors. Expect classics like their melts and steak burger, but also keep an eye out for their new 6oz signature burger.
Seattle, What's Happening?
Lil Woody's Fancy @$$ Burger Night, 05/23 - As the name suggests, you'll be eating some fancy burgers. This event includes a 3-course meal that consists of items like hush puppies and root beer floats. It's definitely a fancy, pinky fingers up ordeal!
Vendemmia's First Birthday, 05/30 - It was Vendemmia's first birthday on the 22nd, but they'll be waiting till May 30th to celebrate. Regular dinner service will be cancelled on that night and the Brian Clevenger and his team willbe serving a whole roasted suckling pig and oysters to share. Drop by from 2pm to 7pm to join the celebrations.
