TMA Mondays: So Full
It’s a battle of meal kits, and Blue Apron might be winning.
Earlier this year, Blue Apron announced a partnership with Costco, giving them the potential to be able to distribute meal kits easily. Starting this past weekend on September 14th, select Costco stores in the PNW are going to be selling the Creamy Pesto Chicken meal kit. This recipe will be available for a month and serves four. The retail price is steep for $24.99, but I know a lot of families that live on this stuff.
In other news, if you like food photography then you may like the new Modernist Cuisine Gallery that is planning on opening sometime in November across from SAM. Nathan Myhrvold, food photographer extraordinaire, will be taking inspiration from the surroundings of the gallery such as pike place market. So you will be just hop skip away from trying the food you see in his photographs.
Our Pick of the Week
Batter, Griddle, and drinkery, Portland OR - I spent the weekend in Portland and we decided to get brunch somewhere close to Pip’s donuts. This brunch spot is basically neighbors with the famous donut shop, and boy was it delicious. We indulged in the different fried chicken options, but I want to go back to try all their other options.
Flamin’ Goat Sliders - Its football season again, and to me that means football watching parties. Sliders are the best football party foods, and these are the best I ever had. I miss Temi and her cooking. So this is my pick of the week.
New Sh*t in Town
Fob Poke Bar, Capitol Hill - My favorite poke place just opened their second location in not surprisingly where all good food trends go, Capitol Hill.
Queen city, Belltown - The Queen City Grill has been reopened and redesigned by owner of Linda's Taverna and Oddfellows. She's hoping it will be the neighborly hangout with burgers and cocktails.
Cinnaholic, Capitol Hill - Capitol Cider is getting a new neighbor, a shark tank winner in the form of a vegan cinnamon roll chain sometime this October.
Seattle, What's Happening?
Lady M in Seattle, 9/22 - One of these Saturday's I will be in town when Lady M is selling like hotcakes. Get your tickets or reserve your crepe cakes now!
Boba Street x West Elm Pop-up, 9/22 - This is the second pop-up this summer and this time it's at West Elm. They will even have a pumpkin spice milk tea.
Sweet Tooth Pop-up, 9/23 - Fremont Sunday market is going to be sweeter than ever. The sweetest treats in the city will be setting up curbside at the market.
Northwest Tea Festival , 9/29 - Tea lovers, this event is noteworthy. I didn't know festivals could win awards, but this is the first ever awarded "Best Grassroots Education Tea Event" winner. There will be over 45 workshops and 25 tea tasting experiences.
