TMA Mondays: Coast to Coast
Hello from the East Coast! I live here for now and this is probably one of my last Seattle focused TMA Mondays. What does that mean!? It means TMA is now Coast to Coast! I'll be sharing the latest and greatest Atlanta food news and Mari will keep repping Seattle. More details on my move and changes to TMA coming soon! Now to the food.
After all the food vendor additions to Safeco field last year, it's no surprise that Century Link wants some of the fun. They'll be adding restaurants like Din Tai Fung, Thai Curry Simple and Manu's Taco's to their food options. Speaking of nice restaurants in unexpected places, Sushi Kashiba is the latest restaurant to join the mini-Seattle section in the Chubu Centrair Airport in Japan. Why there is a Seattle section in a Japanese airport I don’t know, but I'm all for it!
It appears China Pie ghost closed on us. No announcement, nothing, but they are indeed closed for business. Sadly, Le Petit Cochon is also closing. Luckily, they've given us more than enough time to stop by before they close in mid-October.
Our Pick of the Week
Salt and Straw, Capitol Hill - I visited Salt & straw twice in one week, because its so good! The cap hill location is also great for an ice cream meetup.
New Sh*t in Town
Wild Ginger, South Lake Union - Wild Ginger is expanding to its 3rd location! This new joint, called Wild Ginger Mckenzie (after the apartment building its located in) will serve the menu favorites you know and love. Additionally, there'll be a satay bar with a wide selection of satays to choose from. They’ll be open for dinner on August 18th!
Dingfelder's Delicatessen, Capitol Hill - If you like Jewish Deli's or are a fan of Westman Bagels, then you should be excited about Dingfelder's that is opening in a few weeks. The deli will be serving familiar items like smoked white fish, bagels, pastrami and more. They'll be opening their walk up window first, with the full restaurant to come after.
Bao House, International District - Bao House just opened up in the ID and as the name suggests, they serve Bao. You can get a variety of Bao fillings from BBQ Pork to Chicken. They also have a selection of sides such as egg rolls and fish sticks. Check them out!
Seattle, What's Happening?
Seattle Taco Takeover, 08/18 - Do you love tacos? How about cocktails? If yes to any of those questions, you should definitely stop by the Taco Takeover competition this weekend. Over 10 chefs will be competing to get you, the judges, to vote for the dish. There'll also be a cocktail competition. Don’t miss this!
Culinaire, 08/18 - If you're into experiential dinners, then you should check out Culinaire. It’s a dinner experience with live aerial performance through your meal.
