TMA Mondays: But First Vote!

IMG_8018.JPG

If you are reading this and haven't voted, it's NOT too late! Get to it folks, every vote matters.

Your vote can determine what laws are passed not just nationwide but even locally.

Remember the "sugary soda tax"? Well its currently projected to bring in double the amount of revenue it anticipated. The money is supposed to go to healthy food and education programs, but it seems there is debate in city hall on where the extra money should go.

I’m probably stating the obvious, but your vote gives you a say in who sits in city hall to make these decisions for us!

Our Pick of the Week

Asadero, Ballard - They know how to do steak tacos justice, but my favorite thing on their menu is Tuetanos, their bone marrow dish. Its the juiciest bone marrow I’ve ever had and honestly topping it on top of the steak tacos just elevates the whole experience.

Freezer Meal Recipes - Since I got the instant pot, I am all about quick meals. Pinch of yum’s freezer meals cuts down the prep time when you want to whip up something for dinner. You do the prep before, freeze the raw ingredients and then take it out to cook the day of. They are simple, and I plan on meal prepping with this over the weekend always.

New Sh*t in Town

Ivars, Issaquah - Last week Ivar's opened their 22nd Seafood Bar! This one is in Issaquah and will offer the fast, casual service and signature menu items Ivar's clamtastic fans know and love for both lunch and dinner. Now those east of Seattle can feast on the classic menu items like fried wild Alaska true cod fish n chips etc.

Willmott’s Ghost, Amazon Spheres - Renee Erickson just opened another restaurant inside of the Spheres today. This time she dabbles in Italian with pizzas and pastries. The spheres really should’ve been an aquarium instead of a jungle to fit with Erickson’s love of sea creatures.

Cinnaholic, Capitol Hill - This past Friday the famous Shark Tank winners for their vegan cinnamon rolls opened in Capitol hill next to Capitol Cider. These aren't your basic cinnamon rolls, you can add your own toppings like fruit, candy and frostings to their various flavors.

Stone Korean, South Lake Union - While Ivar's moves to the east side, Stone Korean food is moving into the west side.  Their east coast location is doing very well and the new SLU location has the same potential with the same traditional Korean menu with classics like bibimbap.

The Lounge by AT&T, Capitol Hill - Yep, you read that right. AT&T has built a concept store that is not only a retail store, but also a coffee house, co working space, and learning center. The owners of Ada's Technical Books will have run the coffee shop inside calling it Ada's Discovery Café. There will be futuristic technologies like coffee-brewing robots and event space for eSports competition and seminars.

Katsu Burger, Ballard - The popular Japanese burger joint in Capitol Hill is coming to Ballard. They are launching their new menu at their Grand opening this Friday 11/2. Make sure to visit on Friday and try their Tokyo Classic slider meal for only $5!

Whole Foods Market, Capitol Hill -  Whole foods is opening a new market tomorrow on Madison + Broadway. It will be 2 floors, with a full service coffee bar and meat and seafood departments. The best part there will be complimentary parking for all customers, we all know parking sucks in Capitol hill.

Seattle, What’s Happening?

Raised Nights, 10/31 - Are you a night owl instead of an early riser? Raised Doughnuts is staying open in the evening on Halloween night just for the night owls. So start your trick or treating with one of their specialty donuts like the pumpkin fritters.

Chocolate Dinner for a cause, 11/1 - Indi Chocolate is hosting a round table meal curated by local chefs to help raise money for Seattle Community Carrot. This program is working to break the cycle of poverty by empowering youth to own their own businesses. The catch, every dish will have chocolate incorporated in some way. Get your tickets now to be one of 30 guests!

America's Test Kitchen Seattle EATS Festival, 11/2-11/3 - ATK is celebrating 25 years of the cooking magazine. On Friday you can enjoy unlimited food from Seattle's top chefs in an intimate setting.
