TMA Mondays: Reuse, Recycle

Pictured: Brunch at Salare

TMA'ed while listening to Fake Love by William Singe & Alex Aiono

This past weekend in Seattle was packed with events. There was Bumbershoot in Seattle Center and PAXdowntown which both bring hordes of people into the city. More people in the city means more folks eating out. Unfortunately two restaurants/bars were unavailable for visiting. Contadino closed its doors just 6 months after being open and it's unknown what will take over the space next. The Saint stopped serving their infamous tacos and will be putting all their focus on their tequilas and mezcals.

Starting summer of next year, Seattle restaurants will be banned from using plastic straws and utensils and will either have to serve compostable or reusable alternatives. The move is part of Seattle's efforts to reduce plastic waste and some restaurants are getting on board with the movement as early as this month with Strawless in Seattle.

In other news, prepare your stomachs for some future Sunday Suppers. On September 10thaka Grandparents day, Volunteer Park Café will be hosting their September Sunday Supper visit the link to book your spot. Also on September 10th, Tavolata in Belltown will be hosting a Wagyu beef Sunday fest. Expect seven wagyu beef dishes AND a banana split. Call 206-838-8008 to make your reservation.

Our Pick of the Week

Ooink, Capitol Hill - This weekend I visited Ooink in Capitol Hill with a friend who was visiting. It’s a small, no frills ramen place above the QFC. Their spicy Kotteri ramen was silky and delicious. My friend got the shoyu ramen and was all smiles and "this is amazing". Definitely check them out if you haven't before.

Oatmeal - I saw a picture of this recipe and it looked too good not to share. For lovers of oatmeal, this recipe for cinnamon apple baked oatmeal by Bru Crew Life is sure to switch up your oatmeal game.

New Shit in Town

Sugar Factory, Bellevue - The sugar factory will be unveiling its new outpost in Bellevue with the help of non-other than Mariah Carey! She will preview Christmas Factory line, which consists of custom Mariah Carey cookies, snow globes, etc. If you are not familiar Sugar Factory, they are famous for their over the top food. Their new location at the Bravern will be a 9000 sqft space with great views and a chocolate lounge. Yup, you read that right, a chocolate lounge. I'm getting a sugar rush just thinking about it.
