TMA Mondays: A Whole Lot
TMA'ed while listening to Either Way by Snakeships
Whole foods is now a whole lot cheaper thanks to the Amazon effect. Monday was Amazon's first official day owning the bougie grocery store and they cut prices by as much as 43%. They say much more is to come, possibly the converting all Whole Foods into Amazon Go?
Speaking of Whole Foods, Next Level Burger a vegan/vegetarian burger joint just opened last Friday in Roosevelt. We got to try it for ourselves at their preview event, and our carnivorous selves thought it was pretty darn good.
Knee High Stocking Co. is a whole lot more than just a speakeasy now. It has expanded the location and the menu to serve Filipino brunch and dinner. The speakeasy vibes will stay the same, now there will just be more delicious foods to go with your prohibition drinks.
There are a whole lot of summer event series ending this labor day weekend, scroll down to see a few you must check out to end summer right.
Our Pick of the Week
Kedai Makan, Capitol Hill - I've been pretty under the weather all weekend, and nothing cures a cold like their Roti Jala served with daal
Meatballs - The most versatile of meat recipes, you can throw them in pasta, subs, pizza, or just about anything. The kitchn blog claims garlic bread is the best vessel for meatball subs, I agree wholeheartedly.
New Sh*t in Town
Kokkaku, Wallingford - Although it's sad that Miyabi 45th is never to return, it's replacement is meaty. The owners describe it as a "Japanese inspired meat house". The menu revolves around meat, no surprise there but it does justice to the whole animal. For example, there is bone marrow custard on the menu as dessert.
Celine Patisserie, Greenwood - This couple is bringing a little piece of Italy to Seattle with their monkey bread, tiramisu, macarons and even raw and vegan cakes. They will be baking everything on the site and super fresh.
Al Basha, Belltown - There can never be enough halal Mediterranean food. This place serves halal lamb and beef and is about to be my next go to for when friends and family who only eat halal meat visit.
Seattle, What's Happening?
So Bazaar Night Market, 8/31 - This is the last of the night market series in Redmond. So if you find yourself in the Eastside Thursday night, be sure to stop buy for a food and music filled summer night to end the month of August.
Grilled Cheese Grand Prix Pop-Up, 9/2 - The last pop-up series for the SLU Saturday market is cheesy. Over 20 vendors who specialize in cheese or bread and cheese combos will be posted up in the SLU discovery park.
The Flour Box Pop up, 9/2 - Donut miss this pop-up! From 12-3pm at the Westlake West Elm location The Flour Box will be handing out donuts for free with suggest donations for each. There will be Marcha custard, Crème Brulee filled donuts, cruffins and more.
La Panaderia, 8/29 -9/3 - Take a break from Bumbershoot to take a stroll at Olympic Sculpture park and check out the La Panaderia pop up. This is the last weekend they will be serving tamales, desserts, and coffee at the park.
