TMA Mondays: Sweet Tooth
TMAéd while listening to My Love by Wale feat Major Lazer, Dua Lipa, Wizkid
On Monday, the Seattle City council approved a new tax on sugary drinks like soda, red bull, Gatorade etc. There was debate on both sides with store owners arguing that the tax could possibly put them out of business and supporters saying it will disincentivize soda intake.
That being said, its summer and sweetness should abound. Here is a list of where to get your hands on a Frosé aka Frozen Rosé. The Garden, (the outdoor patio of Hotel Sorrento) is also offering half-off wines on Tuesday evenings all through summer. If you're trying to be bougie on a Thursday check out the "Off Menu" a visual installation that explores leftover food - "its wastefulness as well as its potential uses". It's at the Fred Wildlife Refuge and its FREE.
Our Pick of the Week
Junebaby, Ravenna - Ohh baby, Junebaby is damn good. I stopped by for lunch over the weekend and I was not disappointed. It's a short but mighty menu. Get the biscuits, the syrup that accompanies it is worth the calories.
Peaches - Its summer which means its peach season, which means you can have yummy things like peach cobbler OR peach salad? Give this recipe for a Peach and Corn Coleslaw by I am a Food Blog a try.
New Sh*t In Town
Mr Darcy's, Belltown - Keeping up with the "sugar" theme, Mr Darcy's, a new bar from the owners of Bathtub Gin, will be opening in Clever Bottle's old location. They'll be serving house made cocktails made with fresh fruit and herbs from Pike Place Market.
Cakes of Paradise, Georgetown - If you want a slice of guava cake, or a bite off a Malasada or perhaps a taste of a coconut cream pie, then you should head to Cakes of Paradise in Georgetown. They recently expanded their space and opened a new cafe next door. Check them out and satisfy that sweet tooth.
