TMA Mondays: Meal Kits for Everyone

TMA'ed while jamming to Wild Thoughts by Dj Khaled, Rihanna, Bryson Tiller

I solemnly swear I'm up to no good… at least when it comes to getting this TMA Monday out on time. I was busy chowing down because it's no longer Ramadan. That means I can eat lunch again and meal prep for it with all the different meal kit services that are launching this summer.

Homemade - Ayesha Curry, the literal chef curry with the pot, just launched her family inspired meal kits. Unlike other meal kits out there, hers is family oriented and focused on making it more convenient and easier for families to come together and have a meal.

Cukery - A local Seattle couple recently launched a beta of their service that brings the farm to your table in a meal kit. They pick up fresh produce and package it the same day they deliver it to you. That isn't all that makes them unique, their meal kits are recipes from all over the world. Their goal is not just provide you a convenient easy way to cook a meal but to tell stories about other cultures through food.

Halal chef - Fellow halal foodies, the halal blue apron we've all been waiting for is in the works! A husband and wife couple (seems to be a trend) from Chicago are the founders of this new service that is basically Blue Apron but with organic, halal certified meat. According to their website they are launching July.

Our Pick of the Week

Lucky's Pho , Fremont - It's a pho place by name, but their banh mi chicken sandwich is the best thing on the menu. I've probably walked by it several times, but yesterday was the first time I noticed it and boy am I glad I did. The fresh baguette they use for their sandwiches are better than any I've had with banh mi before.

Star Spangled Cookies - July 4th is almost here and I'm hoping these oatmeal cookies Temi made last year for the holiday will be present at our BBQ this weekend.

New Sh*t in Town

Wallyburger, Wallingford - This weekend a new gourmet burger with a country vibe opened in Wallingford. The owner Gary Reynolds owns Revolver bar in Cap Hill and wanted a burger place that was less retro and more southern. Also he has a rule for his burgers that I can appreciate, "burgers that fit in your mouth" aka not too big to bite.

Cheese Meats Bread, International District - the owners of 8oz burger and Co, is opening a grilled cheese spot in the Uwajimaya's food court.  The menu has nine sandwiches that all involve some sort of cheese, meat and bread.
