TMA Mondays: Farmer's Market Season
TMA'ed while listening to Rollin' by Calvin Harris
Pike Place Market is growing! I didn't think it could get any bigger, but I was wrong. On June 29th a new section to the market will be home to places like Honest Biscuit, Jarr and Co, Indi Chocolate and more.
The Farmers Markets this summer also have new options and concepts.
Sea Wolf Bakery will post up at the U District Market even though they have a brick and mortar store now.
Queen Anne is helping kids learn about food by teaching them how to garden and giving them $2 to spend on fruits and vegetables at the market.
Capitol hill market is going to be cheesier with Golden Glen Creamery's cheese, crème fraiche and butter.
So for lunch be a mobile foodie. For dinner, you can use the new app AllSet to reserve a table, order, and pay in advance of showing up to the restaurant. While over 40 restaurants participate in New York, Seattle only has 16 for now.
Our Pick of the Week
Skillet Diner, South Lake Union - I've probably mentioned this in one of the very early TMA Mondays, but their grilled cheese with fried chicken deserves a second, a third, a fourth etc. mention.
Coconut - These coconut glazed donuts I had from Carol Lee Bakery this weekend are everything. I tried to find a recipe for them online, but none can do them justice.
New Sh*t in Town
The Grilled Cheese Experience, South Lake Union - Don't worry they will still be a food truck, but now you can enjoy the grilled cheese in a sheltered location when it rains. Let's be real, we aren't in the clear for clear skies 24/7.
Seattle Cookie Counter, Phinney Ridge - If anyone knows about trying again, it's this cookie shop. They say third times a charm and its gotta be because the revamped menu and location are very inviting.
Tentenyu, Capitol Hill - This famous ramen restaurant from Kyoto is opening its third US location in Seattle! Too bad we have to wait until July.
The Lake House, Bellevue - James Beardis giving Bellevue a fresh outlook that will complement the city's fancy vibe with his new restaurant that is scheduled to open this summer.
B-Side, Capitol Hill - The same folks that brought you Analog Coffee are now bringing a new breakfast and lunch spot. They are currently calling themselves weekends at Analog since you order at Analog but pick up around the corner on B-side.
Seattle, What's Happening?
A Birthday for Slate, 05/19 - Slate is four years old and is celebrating the best way they know how, Coffee coffee coffee!
Vegan Cambodian Food Pop-up, 05/21 - Their last pop-up was such a hit, they are now taking pre-orders. It's never too early to plan meals for Sunday.
