TMA Mondays: Snow Day

TMA'ed while listening to Reverse Faults by Sampha

I'm currently in warm and sunny Kenya, but apparently it's snowing in Seattle so folks are rejoicing over having the day off. A snow day means you have time to take things off your to-do list. If it's deciding where to go for Valentine's day dinner, Seattle Met has you covered. If it’s a new place to try for brunch this weekend, Seattle Eater has got you covered. If you REALLY want to plan ahead, you can purchase your tickets for Tom Douglas's Dumpling Fest coming up at the end of the month. If none of those things apply to you and you've been sitting on your couch the past few days devastated over the recent article that stated there was a bacon shortage, the vice president of pork analysis, says not to fear, there's plenty bacon here.

Our Pick of the Week

Restaurant Roux, Fremont - If Roux's photoshoot worthy location doesn’t make you want to visit, then their brunch menu definitely should.

Kachumbari - Kachumbari is a traditional Kenyan salad mainly consisting of tomatoes and onions. It's refreshing andeasy to make. This recipe from All Kenyan Recipes should get you started.

New Sh*t in Town

Bruciato, Bainbridge Island - Bainbridge has a new Neapolitan pizza spot called Bruciato. The new restaurant owned by Chef Brendan McGill of Hitchcock, includes a menu ranging from classic Neapolitan pizza to modern pies. In addition to pizza, there are items cooked in the wood-fire oven like octopus, tripe, clams etc. If you find yourself on the island, be sure to stop by.

Contadino Restaurant & Pizzeria, North Capitol Hill -  I was very sad to hear that Ernest Loves Agnes closed its doors last week. However, it seems like it won't be long before the space will be replaced. Specifically, by Brian Clevenger's new concept Contadino restaurant.  The restaurant will have a full bar, plus seating in the intimate dining room, with a menu that will focus on handmade pastas, vegetables and simple seafood dishes.
