TMA Mondays: Wind Blown
TMA'ed while listening to Too Good at Goodbyes cover by Kdol World
Much like yesterday's wind storm, this weekend was a whirlwind of activity : Cowabunga, Northwest Chocolate Festival, and new restaurants opening (see below)!
Before you know it, the weekend before Thanksgiving will be here. If you are already thinking about Sunday brunch plans like me, here are a couple new options:
- Leonora restaurant's new Sunday Brunch serves traditional brunch dishes tapas style, has a build your own bloody mary bar and a jumbo sized smore cake.
- The Lakehouse, for those who love cheddar this brunch menu is for you. They serve fried egg on top of a buttermilk cheddar waffle as well as cheddar grits with steak and eggs.
Our Pick of the Week
Taqueria Nueve, Portland - At Cowabunga this weekend we tried cow tongue tacos from this taqueria. Yes that's right, cow tongue. It was so tender and the flavor was fuego. Rightly so, they were the winners of the #nocowleftbehind challenge at Cowabunga. You aren't a true cow lover until you've had tongue, we recommend going here to try it for your first time.
Sweet Potato - This recipe from Layers of Happiness promised a fast way to bake sweet potato, and they delivered. I enjoyed it so much, I made it again the following night. Warning, eating just half of a sweet potato is more filling than you think.
New Shit in Town
Supreme Pizza, West Seattle - Owner of Ma'Ona fried chicken, Mark Fuller, just opened a New York Style pizza place this past Sunday. It has all the classics and more extravagant pies such as taco meat with nacho cheese. Although Supreme's arcade and sit down area is only 21 & over, they have online ordering on their website to expedite ordering for pick up.
Neko Cat Café, Cap Hill - Did you meow this is the second cat café to open in Seattle? At this cafe the cats are special and so is the menu. All the cats have FeLV (feline lukemia) and the menu has beanfish waffles, bento boxes, and cat shaped cookies. Unlike other cat cafes this one has more than just tea and coffee, it also has booze.
Seattle, What's Happening?
Grilled Cheese Grand Prix, 11/17-11/18 - Escape the rainy weather by indulging in everyone's favorite comfort food, grilled cheese. Seattle is hosting the "largest" grilled cheese competition festival this weekend with over 30 unique cheesy pop-ups.
Raised Doughnuts x U Village Pop- up, 11/18 - The pop-up will post up right next to Warby Parker at 10am and will serve until they run out. The lineup is full of fall flavors such as apple cider, pumpkin spice, pomegranate and more.
