We are halfway through October, so make sure you take advantage of the following before the month is over:

Airport Restaurant Month - All across North America several airports are serving special seasonal menus at some of their concourse restaurants. The menus are packed with comforting fall flavors.

Sea-Tac is one of the participating airports that will be serving these menus at Seattle Taproom (Concourse B) and Dungeness Bay Seafood House ( Concourse S). They will even have broth for sipping on the go, perfect for travelling as the weather gets chillier this month.

Piroshky, Piroshky 25th Anniversary Giveaway -  To celebrate turning 25 on October 24th, Piroshky Piroshky are offering to give away 25 catering orders of 25 piroshky each to local schools, charities or businesses until the end of October.

How do you enter the giveaway? Email cs@piroshkybakery.com and tell them a little about who you are and what local school, charity, or business you will be sharing the Piroshky with. Check out their Facebook page to see the winners.

Our Pick of the Week

Ma'ono Fried Chicken Counter, Uvillage - We visited Ma'ono for brunch in our early blog days, and this weekend I finally visited the counter they have in the U Village location for Rachel's Ginger beer to try their famous fried chicken as a sandwich. The chicken was as juicy and spicy as I remembered and even better in sandwich form. Coupled with the caramelized pineapple ginger beer, it's mouthwatering.

Pumpkin -  October's most popular produce. If you have pumpkins at home and don't want to use them for decoration, Buzzfeed has 31 pumpkin recipes ( basically one for every day this month).

New Sh*t in Town

Kamonegi, Fremont - Miyabi 45th fans, Mutsuko Soma is back and this time with handmade soba noodles. The restaurant is small and intimate, a perfect set up to watch Soma whipping upthe seiro (cold noodles, warm sauce) or nanban (hot noodles, hot sauce) you are eating. In addition to the staple Japanese starch, there will be seasonal tempura.

Ramen Danbo, Capitol Hill - Is there such a thing as too much ramen? Another ramen international chain is opening on E Pine St and this is the first ever US location. At this point we shouldjust call Caphill, Ramen hill.

Istanbul Cuisine, Bellevue - If you are a fan of Café Turko but live on the Eastside, there is a new Turkish restaurant that may be able to serve your cravings when you can't make it to Fremont. They are now open in Belleuve serving a fusion of Turkish and Mediterranean classics.

Seattle, What's Happening?

Seattle Restaurant Week, 10/15- 11/2 - Restaurant week is back! For three weeks you can try 3 courses for $33 at 165+ restaurants in the greater Seattle Area (Eastside included).

Haunted Factory Tour, 10/19 - 10/28 - Seattle Chocolate Factory is inviting you and your family/friends for trick or treating after factory hours, but be warned they are haunted and full of tricky ghosts.

Teatro Zinzani's Love, Chaos and Dinner show, 10/19- 4/29 - A three hours of circus, cabaret, comedy and food is coming to town ( specifically Marymour park) this week and staying until spring of next year. The dinner menu was created by the James Beard Award winning chef Jason Wilson.

Ballard Feastival, 10/21 - Eating for a good cause is the best kind of feasting. Some Ballard restaurants are teaming up with Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to host a food festival to advance the mission for the CF foundation.
