TMA Mondays: The Future is Near

TMA'ed while listening to I Don't Wanna Live Forever by Zayn & Taylor Swift

We're still a couple weeks away from New Year's Eve, yet there are restaurants that already have their resolutions for 2017. I guess it’s a nice to know the future of Seattle food scene considering everything else is unpredictable for next year.

Bellevue is getting hip to the Poke trend. In the past few months, two new Poke spots opened and now in January Pokeworks, that just opened in Seattle, is joining the party.

In 2017 SLU will continue its exponential growth in new restaurants. 2120 will open on 2120 6th Ave as a bougie farm to table gastropub, possibly like it's sibling 99 park.

In the summer of 2017 you can expect traffic jams on the East Side when another Chick-Fil-A' branch opens in Kirkland. But maybe they won't be too bad once the other predicted 4-5 branches open in other areas around WA.

Our Pick of the Week

Pasta Freska, Westlake - I've never eaten so much and so good in one sitting, except for at my grandma's house. There isn't a menu, everything is fair game depending on what they have that day in the kitchen and what restrictions you tell the chef. When I went I had 7 courses not including dessert and each one was on point.

Chocolate Cheesecake - If you want a non-traditional dessert for your holiday meal, aka not pie, this Death by Chocolate cheesecake is a great replacement. I recently made it and it's truly a chocolate lovers dream.

New Sh*t In Town

Cycene, Pike Place - In my opinion, there can never be enough southern food joints in Seattle. Their menu is a twist to regular southern food places, sandwiches and grits bowls.

Central District Ice cream Company, Central District - They opened with 4 DJs this past Saturday and you can expect them to be nothing like their neighboring ice cream shop Frankie and Jo's. That's because they are considering serving delicacies like chicken and waffle ice cream sandwiches.

Cook Weaver, Capitol Hill - Marron has officially been replaced by this restaurant that has been described by the owners as "inauthentic Eurasian". What does that mean? Think broccoli casserole with Cheetos.

Seattle, What's Happening?

Holiday Parade of Lights Festive Dining Cruise, thru 12/23 - Need a new tradition for the holidays? This one is slightly steep but it is also very Seattle. You get to grub, sip on some hot cider while on a decorated boat surrounded by other decorated boats.
