TMA Mondays: Being Thankful
TMA'ed while jamming to Caroline by Anime
The past few weeks have been eventful in America to say the least. Now that it's Thanksgiving time, the spirit of giving and being grateful is in the air. Spread the love, enjoy time with your friends and families, and remind yourself of the things you should be thankful for.
Here are a few things all Seattle foodies can be thankful for:
1. If you're in SLU and have a craving for Taco's Chukis you don’t have to go all the way to Caphill
2. Mean Sandwich will finally fulfill their promise on serving us hot griddle sandwiches by the end of this month. Check their Facebook for updates.
3. Nirmal's have concrete plans to open a Indian Pub concept in SLU next year.
4. Capitol Hill is getting a Christmas present this year in the form of Katsu Burger. They plan on opening a second installment of their popular deep fried burger restaurant in Capitol Hill. They are currently in Georgetown.
Our Pick of the Week
Assembly Hall, Denny Triangle - This place is easily overlooked and not recognized as a Tom Douglas restaurant. For those who work in the area or live in the apartment complex its very convenient. For those that don't, their fried chicken sandwich and their use of avocados in so many of their items is totally worth going out of your way for.
Mac & Cheese - A Thanksgiving dinner without some creamy cheesy c-shaped noodles is just sad. This recipe from thekitchn is the one I am going to use because the end result looks like culinary excellence but barely any hard work was required.
New Sh*t In Town
China Pie, Fremont - Sometimes you crave pizza, sometimes dumplings, and sometimes both. For those times you have a new spot in Fremont that serves Asian-inspired pizzas and dumplings served in broth or chili sauce.
Bar Charlie, Wallingford - Just when you thought Seattle had all the themes a bar could possibly have, a new one is emerging before the end of the year. The theme? Sea planes. The bar will have actual plane parts, photography of sea planes and food such as pork slides, mac and cheese and more.
Seattle, What's Happening?
MOHAI Edible City: A Delicious Journey Exhibit, 11/19 - 9/10/2017 - . If feasting all day Thursday doesn't fulfill your foodie dreams or you're too full to deal with crazy crowds at the mall, spend time at the Museum of History and industry exploring Seattle's food history.
The Ugly Sweater Run, 12/3 - After all the Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving feasts , you'll be stuffed like a Turkey or still eating leftovers. Regardless, there is nothing like a 5k to get you back into shape or help you make room for Holiday feasts.
