Table for two please
whats the Deal with Table Manners Aside?
Temi: Table Manners Aside was created over food as these things happen. I wanted to start a food blog where I could share Nigerian/ Nigerian inspired recipes. I love to cook and I always end up creating recipes that are either common meals with simple ingredients or fusion meals that I threw together. TMA is a combination of all those, sharing my culture and sharing my experiments and sometimes just sharing my dinner.
Mari: There are very few Halal restaurants in Seattle and it can be a struggle to find restaurants with halal friendly options that make eating out worth it. I wanted to start a food blog that explored all Seattle had to offer and find the gems that would rock the socks off halal foodies.
Temi: We joined forces and the rest they say is history. There are many pieces of ourselves in TMA, but at its core, we are about sharing our food experiences. Whether that’s a recipe, a restaurant or the latest food event.
Mari: Our awkward table manners aside, thank you for coming along for the ride.
Who does what?
Temi: Mari brings the food to life through her lens. All our pictures are taken and edited by her. She is also my professional taste tester. Obviously we both write the posts, but we alternate on TMA Mondays.
Mari: Temi is the mastermind in the kitchen. She comes up with and cooks all the recipes as well as styles the food. We both review the restaurants together, me from the perspective of a halal eater and Temi eats what she likes.
What do you do when you're not eating?
Mari: What else is there to do but eat? In the rare moments when I'm not eating I'm geeking out at work, getting my groove on in a new dance class or fangirling at concerts.
Temi: When I'm not at my full time tech job, I fly. I do aerial arts, silks, hoop trapeze etc. It's a great workout , plus for someone who always hated the monkey bars, aerial makes me feel accomplished.
